Whatever your area of interest, level of ability, or age, there will be something to stimulate you while simultaneously helping us.
There are many benefits to volunteering – apart from being interesting and really fun, you gain a strong sense of purpose in life from contributing to something larger than yourself.
You also get to meet and make friends with new people, learn valuable transferable skills which help in all other areas of life, and feel a tremendous sense of satisfaction and fulfilment from doing something that is hugely valuable to the community, and indeed the whole planet.
If you are looking for work, doing something on a voluntary basis catapults your CV to a whole new level.
Hands-on volunteering

We’ll need people to help outdoors with planting, tending, and learning about maximizing wildlife. Also, to help with social media and filming.
Full training will be provided for the conservation work so no experience is provided.

Current volunteering opportunities
Countryside Worker
Where: Wild Magic, Main Rd N, Dagnall, Berkhamsted HP4 1RE When: Thursdays and Saturdays, 11am–4pm (TBA) Why we want you: We need hands-on help to rewild a large field at Wild Magic and provide habitat for wildlife. What you will be doing: Horticultural gardening to rewild a large field — planting trees, hedges, fruit and vegetables; learning to grow your own food, make forest gardens, create a wildflower meadow, through to understanding the rewilding process, and providing habitat for wildlife. Skills you need: No experience necessary, full training given. What’s in it for you: Confidence, health and fitness, new people and friends, a wide variety of gardening techniques and transferable skills (attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, effective communication) — great for your CV; travel expenses reimbursed (upon agreement). Grants and Funding Coordinator
Where: Ibis Styles Hotel, Ealing (hybrid — weekly meet-ups in Ealing, remote working also available) When: 5+ hours per week (TBA) Why we want you: To help a small charity build a consistent approach to fundraising for environmental, community and wellbeing projects. What you will be doing:
- Research and identify suitable grant, trust, foundation, corporate and community funding opportunities.
- Assess criteria and maintain a simple pipeline of opportunities, deadlines, applications and outcomes.
- Coordinate information, evidence and documents for applications.
- Support proposals, budgets and business cases.
- Support preparation and submission of applications and report on progress.
- Work with the Project Director to align opportunities with project priorities.
- Identify partnership and community opportunities.
- Suggest improvements to the funding approach.
The role starts with a one-month trial, with reviews over the first three months based on quality, organisation, reliability, communication, initiative and collaboration — not solely on funding secured. Skills you need:
- Project coordination experience.
- Grant-writing / fundraising experience (trusts, foundations, corporate, community or digital campaigns).
- Research skills.
- Time management.
- Initiative and reliability.
- Strong organisation and communication.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
Desirable: Business case development, funding pipeline management, monitoring and reporting, relationship and partnership development. What’s in it for you: Practical experience in charity fundraising, grant development and project coordination.
