Nestled within 70 acres of protected sanctuary near London, Wild Magic showcases the benefits of rewilding firsthand — demonstrating how this powerful process, combined with nature-based healing, can transform not only the land but also the lives of everyone who connects with it. Here’s how our project is making a difference:
Biodiversity Restoration:
Rewilding helps restore ecosystems to a more natural state, by doing so we’ve created a thriving space where native plants and animals can return, which allows a diverse range of species to thrive. This can include both flora and fauna, including species that were historically native to the area but have since disappeared can now find refuge in our rewilded ecosystems.
Ecosystem Balance:
By reintroducing key species, ecosystems can regain their natural balance. For example, different herbivores and predators create diverse landscapes and habitats, supporting more life.
Enhances Soil Health
Rewilding restores the natural processes that keep land productive and resilient. Rewilding shifts soil from a depleted, heavily managed state to a self-sustaining, living foundation that supports long-term ecosystem health.
Habitat Creation:
Rewilding can lead to the creation of diverse habitats. As the land is managed to support a variety of species, it can help to provide more varied environments for both resident and migrating species, which in turn supports wildlife conservation and adds another benefit to the rewilding process.
Climate Change Mitigation:
Rewilding initiatives can help with Carbon Sequestration. For instance, by encouraging the regeneration of forests or wetlands, these habitats can capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which is a crucial aspect of combating climate change and helps turn our land into a powerful ally in the fight against global warming.
Educational and Research Opportunities:
Wild Magic is using rewilding and regenerative food growing to educate the public about how we can feed a growing population without destroying the natural world on which our wellbeing depends on.
Improved Animal Welfare:
Animals are sentient, just like we are, they can suffer or feel pain and pleasure. We believe animals deserve more than survival — they deserve wellbeing.
